Worship Mortal Kombat! - [ videogames ]
When Mortal Kombat 4 was released for the PlayStation as a 3-Dimensional fighting game, I wanted to Rayden Torpedo out a window. There's nothing wrong with 3-D. The Tekken games (even though they are all the same damn thing) do their thing and people seem to enjoy. But Midway's dark martial arts series didn't reach gory greatness by polygon count or ridiculous characters like the Panda. Yeah, it did it by squirting blood all over the screen. However, It was the art of the first three Mortal Kombat games that made me sell my adolescent body for quarters for the Arcade.
The charm of the early MK games was the way Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Kano looked. They looked like real people. And this was achieved by having real life martial artists pose for each character frame. Character Artists took these poses and drew them into the game.
I don't know if the games changed because of the new possibilities the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 created, or the shrinking demand for 2-Dimensional fighting games, or what. I do know that I miss my Animalities, Babalities, Friendships, and Brutalities.

MK games suck. They are fun for the first day then I take a good look at what I'm wasting my time playing, then just shut it off, and never feel the need to play again. What a waste of money.

I loved th old MK games, but to be perfectly honest, I am kind of afraid to try the new ones.

mortal kombat is the bomb...well except for the second film. but that is a small blemish on the face of a giant empire. if this is blesphamy then let the creator of the definition of blesphamy strike me down with a mighty bolt of lightning from my own ass. : )

MK is so old and they need to try making a new game. Every mortal kombat gets worse and worse. They create so many characters and they always have shitty ones like jax, darrius, jarek, movado and other fools. Then they make up a plot about how they trained with Liu Kang or they are someone else's freind or son. They just dont stop making up new characters and none of their stories fit in with anyone else's. Plus when they make new characters they are actually replacing them. Ashrah is Raiden but with boobs and longer hair, and Kobra is like Johny Cage. Shujinko is the new Liu Kang but he has the fighting styles of Kung Lao. MK games have ugly chicks now. They look all fat and pale and ugly nasty bitches. MK was good up until 1997 when MK$ came out. They should have kept it 2D because it had such a classic feel to it.
Mortal Kombat was only actually good for the first three installments. Then the series went to crap. Can't say the same for the movies as I still have yet to see them.(gasp!) MK Trilogy is the best of all. By the way, why oh why did they have to screw up Smoke and Reptile by making them a robot and a lizard(in that order)? That was retarded.
I remember the first time I managed to perform a fatality uppercut in the first Mortal Kombat game on the Genesis. Ah, good times.
