Where the hell is the next Killzone? - [ videogames ]

When the original Killzone was unleashed onto the PlayStation 2 in 2004, it was a letdown. Killzone failed to slay Halo like some claimed it would. But just because people didn't immediately smash their copies of Halo, and run over to the nearest store and buy Killzone, doesn't mean that it failed all together. This may come as a surprise, but a lot of people are playing it online and loving it, myself included.

So what does Killzone have to offer? While it doesn't have the very best graphics seen on the PlayStation 2, the gritty post-apocalyptic art style is very cool. And some actually prefer its look to the whole Halo: shooting Muppets with Nerf guns thing.

At E3 2005, the mind-bursting trailer for the PS3 sequel to Killzone was shown, and since then there hasn't been a word about the status of the game. It wasn't at E3 2006 (not even in trailer form), no new screenshots have surfaced, and Guerilla Games' website hasn't posted any information about the game in almost an entire year. In fact, if you go to their website, you'll immediately be prompted to apply for one of their 19 job vacancies. So what's the deal? Where is the game?

And I'm sick of whiny babies bitching about whether or not the footage in the E3 2005 trailer was CG or in-game (like it was purported to be). Who cares! It's in the game, isn't it? Therefore, you still get to enjoy it. It's not some deceptive art on a GBA box.

I guess until the time when it comes out, if it ever does, I can play that PSP game.

You ask why there is no recent info on Killzone 2 and then say you don't want to hear anymore about the video being fake... hum... I would share my thoughts as to why I think we've heard or seen nothing more about it, but I'd rather not be accused of being a whiny baby.

I'll instead go with: They're just so busy working on the game that they've not had enough time to release new info.

A lot games have disappeared of the rader. Killzone 2, Bully, and Resident Evil 5 are some key suspects I'm looking forward to. Heck, I thought Virtua Fighter 5 went MIA until I saw the newest trailer a few days ago.

Back to Killzone, I agree with Kalell. The game is most likely being devolped for a PS3 launch title. I expect (Or hope) we will here more about it in the coming months.

I would be surprised if it came out as a launch title. Surprised, but grateful. Although I'll probably only get the chance to play it here at work because of the damn elephantine price tag on the PS3...

As for Samus' name, "Samus" is the latin name of a river in Hungary. So maybe that had something to do with her parents naming her.

Samus is pronounced like CHE MASS or something. Well videogame are getting a lot more graphically updated while gameplay still leaves something to be desired, somehwhat lackluster from some games coming out, I mean if you have crappy graphics at least be able to shoot everything and break down walls and smash your hand into glass and fart technology. Or how about fatigue even though that is super not fun to have to rest like in Oregon Trail, how about a remake of oregon trail as an MMORPG!!! or how about bukkake MMORPG and you could be a rogue cop who goes undercover into the world of tentacle porn and busts the whole operation open.....anyways those are my thoughts, I would like characters to act real-er, or have more dialogue other than stay here move over here, uh, ugh , OWWWWOOOOWWWO, things like CHAAMMPAKER NEWWIEWIEWJIWNINNNIEIEE!!!! HAIL SATAN, even though i do not worship the diety. Later, grace says she doesnt like your new look with long hair.

I've been thinking about my comment earlier. I thought it was funny but it could be taken a different way so I just wanted to make sure everyone knows it was meant as a joke. Probably should have added a lol.

I don't think anyone took offense Kalell. BTW, I've recently got my hands on an early version of the upcoming PSP Killzone (Killzone: Liberation) thanks to Mr. Marbles, and it is so damn cool! It's third-person instead of first-person, but it is insane, especially to anyone who liked the first Killzone.

I don't have a PSP, I'll have to wait until Killzone 2 comes out. Hopefully I'll have a PS3 by then. I know the people that work at my local GameStop and they put me on the preorder list early. The problem is, I'm not sure I'll have the money, and I'm not sure I'm willing to pay that much to get one, which is a first.
