Actual Humans in Videogames - [ videogames ]

Do you remember a time when some games rewarded the player with flesh and blood actor-filled intros/interludes/endings? It wasn't that long ago. VGs like Rebel Assault 2 and Red Alert 2 had good acting, not Academy Award winning performances, but they did their job and added a lil pizzazz to the gameplay, a little life.

I'm not saying, "Do away with all CG cut scenes." It would just be nice if we could get at least one or two titles with acting in them, say for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Well you still have voice actors, and they are talented in their craft. I think that the majority of FMV's sucked balls, so they took them out, but game developers should start looking into a little more movie oriented gameplay, with the LOTR they meshed the movie and the game together quite well. So I am saying we should give peace a chance....and gangbang...nigga please.

I'm sure everyone's seen them but they have FMV's in Need For Speed Most Wanted. They are so bad they are funny. If you haven't seen them you should check them out.

Crappy actors like Denzel Washington could star in the next Doom game

I think the reason we're not going to see much of that any time soon is because the actors guilds tend to want a larger share of the profits. Look at the debacle over trying to get profits for just the voice acting. Which is something I can understand, but not really have sympathy over, at least not until more integral positions that provide more to the gameplay get better compensated. (That is....I think that if you're going to implement that kind of profit sharing, it needs to be across the board, amongst the artists, animators, programmers, etc.)

(BTW, from an art perspective, I find that most of the real film cinemetics didn't really mesh with the overall art direction of the game itself.)

(The LotR stuff was done fairly well though, but that's an instance where the video game was created AFTER the movie.)

dont get me started on that piece of crap, denzel washington...

I agree: Denzel = Overrated. Training Day was mediocre, and his crying scene didnt add to the already awesome Glory.

Dude Wing Commander 3 with Mark Hamil was awesome. Better than Star Wars prequel acting... which I guess isn't saying much...
